Wills, Powers of Attorney and Executries
Wills can be as straightforward or as complex as required but it is extremely important to make a Will. There are various types of Power of Attorney and these can be explained in detail. It is advisable to speak to a Solicitor when someone dies and the services of our Executry Department are also explained.
Wills
The purpose of making a Will is to set out what happens to your "Estate" (money and property belonging to you) when you die together with other requests you may have ie funeral arrangements etc etc. We can explain the legal formalities and discuss what should be included in your Will and the requirement for "Executors". At the time of completing residential property transactions we are quite willing to prepare a straightforward new Will for you free of charge or alternatively update your existing Will. Please also read the undernoted re "Power of Attorney/Continuing and Welfare Power of Attorney" and "Executries" which covers all eventualities should you become incapable and also ensures that your "Executors" receive help and guidance when you die.
Power of Attorney/Continuing and Welfare Power of Attorney
There are occasions when you require to appoint a suitable person or persons to handle your affairs and the circumstances for this requirement vary greatly. The purpose of a Continuing and Welfare Power of Attorney is to ensure that you can appoint someone to deal with your affairs should you become incapable. Please do not hesitate to contact our Solicitors to obtain further information on these matters.
Executries
There are so many questions to be answered when someone dies that it is always advisable to speak to a Solicitor. The deceased's person's "Estate" (money and property belonging to the deceased person) will require to be distributed in terms of their Will together with other requests that may have been made. The process, during an extremely difficult time, can be explained in greater detail by one of our Solicitors or a member of our Executry Department.
