Lin as she is known as is an experienced Solicitor and Consultant, is the head of Alex Hutcheon and Co Family Law Department with over 30 years of professional practice in family and child law, including extensive court work and expertise with family matters and experience in child safeguarding and protection. Except for two years of her legal career Lin has been a principal/partner in her own legal firm. She has a background in mental health law, representation and advocating for families and children subjected to trauma and families involved in complex legal proceedings in Court as well as the Children’s Hearing System.
For the whole of her legal career Lin has served as a Court Practitioner managing a wide range of divorce, separation and family law matters. Lin demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge and practical application of all legal, welfare and safeguarding frameworks affecting families and children.
Lin is an accomplished litigator who has routinely dealt with complex divorce cases, including the division of matrimonial property and assets, financial provision, and associated family law matters.
Lin works closely with her clients and offers a hands-on client focussed approach to negotiation that prioritises practical solutions. This process is typically less distressing and more cost-effective than pursuing a contentious court action where costs can escalate. Where negotiations are unsuccessful counsels opinion may be sought and advice provided on the most appropriate and strategic way forward.
